Tarantino is back with a vengeance

Kurt Russell to star in The Hateful Eight

Kurt Russell has announced the previously abandoned Western, penned by the notorious director Quentin Tarantino, is back on schedule.

Tarantino’s ninth film, following the success of Django Unchained (2012), will be a western and will follow Tarantino’s favourite themes of betrayal and revenge. The film will see Tarantino reunite with Kurt Russell following their collaboration on Death Proof (2007).

Earlier in the year, a reading from the script tantalised a Los Angeles audience, including Kurt Russell (reading for the role of Bounty Hunter John Ruth) and fellow actors Samuel L. Jackson, Tim Roth, Amber Tamblyn, Walton Goggins, Michael Madsen, Bruce Dern, James Parks, Denis Menochet, Dana Gourrier, Zoe Bell and James Remar.

After the script for The Hateful Eight had been leaked, the director halted any further work on the film and attempted to sue gossip website Gawker on the grounds of copyright breach for advertising his screenplay for all to see.

The Hateful Eight is rumoured for release in December 2015, with shooting expected to start early next year.
